The grandparents of Alabama rapper HoneyKomb Brazy died in a house fire that police are now investigating as a possible homicide.
According to Fox 19, Tony and Leila Lewis died on Wednesday in their Mobile, Alabama home on Dr. Thomas Avenue. Complex Media reports that firefighters responded to the fire after it had started. Around the time of the fire, witnesses say they also heard gunshots. Authorities found the couple dead in the home once the blaze was controlled and extinguished.
“All I heard was a boom. It sounded like a bunch of shots,” a witness said in a video obtained by WKRG News 5. “Lord have mercy. Don’t tell me they were up in there because Lord, I heard the children coming across the field crying.” The couple’s family members said the husband and wife were fatally shot before the fire started.
Officials on the case said they are “working with our counterparts to create a timeline of events prior to as well as after the initial incident,” according to Complex Media.
